Description

Intro

Polylactide is also called PLA, it belongs to thermal plastic aliphatic polyester.  PLA is a kind of resin from plants, with high strength, outstanding plasticity and easy to be machine-shaping ability.   
According to global warming and energy crisis, the concept of saving energy and carbon reduction are widespread between nations. Therefore, PLA become a popular eco-friendly & green plastic, with non-toxic, non-irritation effects and remarkable biocompatibility, that’s why PLA can be decomposed, absorbed and as fertilizer after discarded in soil or humid environment.  Besides, CO2 emission of PLA is only half compare to normal plastic, PLA is conductive to reduce the dependence of petroleum and CO2 emission. Furthermore, the burning temperature of PLA is lower and can prolong the life of incinerator.  The application of PLA is versatile which from high-tech biomedicine to daily commodity such as transparent & colorful cups and containers, packing material, versatile daily injection molding products and film for agricultural use.  
However, even PLA is eco-friendly and with several advantages, it still owns some weak points like worse heat-resistance, low impact resistance and flame retard properties.  Therefore, PLA is only can be applied on low functional products, GYC group developed the high effective plastic impact modifier especially for PLA, which can enhance the impact resistance of PLA, sustain the transparency of product and improve the brittle property of PLA application, enhance the adding value of it.

 

 Advantages

• GY-IM1004 is impact modifier that design for polyactic resin(PLA).
• GY-IM1004  and PLA mixture can enhance hardness and toughness of resin and maintain transparency of PLA product.
• GY-IM1004 is used in improve impact hardness and toughness. It could enhance hardness and won’t effect transparency, lowering cost although at 1% low adding volume.
• After modified by  GY-IM1004 , cuttability, tearing ability and curvature turn ability of PLA would be enhanced.
• GY-IM1004 with excellent oil resistance which can be applied on extrusion bottles.

 

Tear resistance strength

GY-IM1004 can enhance tear resistance strength and cuttability of PLA extruded sheets. In the process of cutting, fragileness of pure PLA makes edges of sheets become irregular shape. It hightens tear resistance strength of PLA membrane and improve cuttability.

 

Processing

GY-IM1004 is white folwable powder. By controlling adding volume, it’s easy disperse PLA matrix in melting mixed process in double screw extruder.

If using single screw extruder or other processing facility to process, we suggest to use   GY-IM1004  premix feed ( including  GY-IM1004 ’s mother batch ) to mix PLA.

With suggested adding volume and processing condition,  GY-IM1004  won’t effect heat stability of PLA.

We suggest G GY-IM1004  and PLA dry to moisture under 250ppm

And then mix.
